Why Is Stopping Not Necessarily Wasted Time, but Part of Progress?

Why does the Torah count the encampments as part of the journey?

The canonical unit notices that the Torah counts not only movement but also encampment. A journey is not made solely of forward motion; pauses can be part of what allows experience to be absorbed and direction to be recovered. The source connects this idea with Shabbat, prayer and stepping out of daily troubles. Modern ideas such as digital detox or sabbatical remain semantic bridges unless explicitly present. The deeper principle is pacing. A person who treats every pause as failure may keep moving without integrating what has happened. Rest, reflection and transition are not automatically avoidance. Sometimes stopping is the work that makes the next movement wiser, more deliberate and more sustainable.
