Born Good or Made Good? The Secret of Moses’ Greatness

Is greatness something a person receives at birth, or something built through repeated choices?

The Torah describes Moses as “good” from the beginning, yet his life is also a long story of struggle, growth and responsibility. This unit uses that tension to ask a universal question about human development. Natural gifts matter, but they do not complete a person. Potential becomes character only through choices, discipline and repeated work. Moses is therefore not presented as a static model of holiness that ordinary people can only admire from a distance. His greatness is also the product of what he conquered, refined and chose. The source offers a hopeful frame for personal growth: difficulty does not prove that a person lacks goodness, and a long path does not prove failure. Sometimes the struggle is precisely where a borrowed potential becomes an owned identity.
