Where Did Moses Find the Courage to Intervene?

Before Moses becomes a prophet, the Torah shows him repeatedly noticing people in distress and acting. He protects a beaten Hebrew and later defends Jethro’s daughters, even while he himself is vulnerable and displaced. The unit identifies compassion, responsibility and moral courage as early foundations of leadership. Courage is not portrayed as impulsive aggression. Moses looks, assesses and then refuses to accept that “no one” will act. The source therefore asks a practical moral question: how does a person train the heart not to normalize another person’s suffering? Leadership begins before titles and authority, in the moment when someone sees a wrong, understands the risk and still decides that indifference is not an option.
