How Far Does the Responsibility of a Leader, Educator or Manager Extend?
What does the connection between the accidental killer and the High Priest teach about responsibility?
The canonical unit uses the Torah connection between the accidental killer and the High Priest to ask how far responsibility extends beyond the act a person performs directly. Its theological claim about prayer and the High Priest must remain source interpretation, not factual causation. The everyday layer concerns leadership, parenting and management: people with authority shape systems, expectations and habits, and therefore carry responsibility for more than their own isolated tasks. At the same time, responsibility must not become limitless guilt. Parents must teach children age-appropriate responsibility, and managers must create ownership without controlling every action. Mature leadership asks what was truly mine to prepare, teach, supervise or delegate, and what properly belonged to someone else.
