How Do We Build Something That Can Continue After Us?

Real continuity is not replication. A parent, teacher, or leader succeeds not when the next generation becomes a copy, but when values, tools, and responsibility are transmitted strongly enough to continue in a new form. Moses cannot be replaced, yet Joshua is prepared, empowered, and given space. This is also a lesson in grief: continuing after someone dies does not mean leaving them behind. A legacy becomes alive when the person is no longer physically present but their values still shape choices made by people who are now responsible for carrying them forward.
