What Would Change If We Accepted Ourselves the Way We Ask God to Accept Us?

Self-acceptance is often confused with excusing ourselves. But responsibility and self-hatred are not the same thing. A person can name a failure honestly, repair what can be repaired, and still refuse to turn one mistake into a total definition of who they are. Real change becomes harder when shame says, “This is what you are,” because identity begins to sound like a sentence rather than a starting point. The deeper work is to hold two truths together: what I did matters, and I am still more than the worst thing I have done.
